TALUD DWELLING. Unlike other detached houses, this one sets itself at the edge of the property, leaving room for a spacious garden. The earthen sound barrier, along the thoroughfare, is extended over the roof of the house. The light wooden floor is supported by a heavy base of large split blocks. The overgrown roof gives the impression that the house rises from the existing embankment and looks out into the garden.

The design was nominated for the 1998 Bergen op Zoom Prize for Architecture awarded by the BNA (Association of Dutch Architects).
