SEWAGE TREATMENT VISIBLE. Usually, sewage treatment plants are clogged. The Zaltbommel WWTP is located freely in the polder landscape along the Waaldijk. The treatment plant is clearly visible from the dike. The design sought a form in which the characteristic polder landscape continues into the water treatment plant. Thus, the spaces between the concrete frames are coloured with natural materials. By grouping the components of the plant and shaping them as powerful visual elements, the process of purification has been made visible. The company building with the various small tanks resembles a "tanker" with walkway up to the glass accommodation area with a beautiful view of the plant and the Waal river.
