Sewage treatment
SEWAGE TREATMENT VISIBLE. Usually sewage treatment plants are clogged. The Zaltbommel WWTP lies free in the polder landscape along the Waaldijk. From that dike, the treatment plant is clearly visible. The design sought a form in which the characteristic polder landscape continues into the wastewater treatment plant. For example, the residual spaces between the concrete frames are colored with natural materials. By grouping and shaping the components of the installation as powerful visual elements, the process of purification has been made visible. The company building with the various small tanks resembles a "tanker" with walkway up to the glass accommodation area with a beautiful view of the plant and the river Waal.
