Pumping Stations Waalsprong/ Bergerden

The De Waalsprong sewage pumping station and the Bergerden sewage pumping station are part of essential infrastructure for water management and are designed with attention to their surroundings as artistic elements in the landscape.

DE WAALSPRONG is located along the Betuwe Line and is designed in such a way that it is visible from a great distance, primarily due to the contrast between the rough anthracite-colored main volume with vertical waves and the shiny, smooth façades of the other volumes.

BERGERDEN on the other hand, it is entirely constructed from glass bricks. This transparent design references the nearby glasshouse horticulture area and enhances the feeling that the building is an extension of the greenhouse structures in the surroundings. As a result, the building almost resembles a glass sculpture in the landscape, contributing to its integration into the open polderscape.
